About

king-5113

Susan King is a speaker, author and inspirational Bible teacher. A member of First Baptist Church in Salisbury, Susan teaches a weekly Sunday School class with an average attendance of around 90 people.

Susan’s passion is to help women thrive in their relationship with Jesus in the midst of life’s ongoing challenges and struggles. She has lived this message firsthand through parenting an autistic child for the past 20 years. Susan loves digging into the scriptures and sharing with others how Biblical truths can be applied to daily living.

She lives in China Grove with her husband David, an optometrist and owner of King Eye Center. The Kings have 3 daughters, Katie, Emily and Sarah, a son Patrick, a son-in-law Curt Morgan (married to Katie), and an extremely mellow golden retriever named Grace.

  1. Martha Hupp says:

Susan, I just learned of you today by way of a friend and co-worker in Danville, Virginia. We adopted our first child, Adam, when he was only 3 days old. He was subsequently diagnosed with autism at age 3. After 8 years of trying to conceive, this momma-wanna-be had prayed, “God, if it’s your will for us to adopt a child with special needs, I know you’ll give us the grace to handle the journey.” What a learning experience it has been for my husband, our daughter, our extended family, our church and our community! If you do not have 100 people to help you with your book launch, I would be honored to assist you in whatever way possible. I have ties with groups in Danville, Virginia, GHA Autism Supports, Camp Royall, ASNC, Facebook and Twitter–to name a few. If you care to “meet” Adam, check out my February 28, 2014 blog post, Take a Bow”, over at Audacious Adventure.

    • Dear Martha, thank you so much for contacting me. It sounds like you have had and are having an amazing journey with your son. I am looking forward to reading your blog post. I would love to add you to my Book Launch Team. I will send you the PDF of my book today, and I will be in contact over the next few weeks with ideas on how to help get the word out about OPTIMISM FOR AUTISM. Thank you for being willing to use your many contacts to help me and Patrick spread a message of encouragement and hope. Blessings to you and your precious Adam, Susan
